Cooper Flagg has already impressed one former Los Angeles Lakers player even before making his regular-season debut.
The Dallas Mavericks landing the number one overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft helped the team select Duke star Cooper Flagg.
Flagg is viewed as the next big thing in the NBA, as he is expected to lead the Mavericks to multiple titles in the future, such are the expectations from the 18-year-old.
Speaking of expectations from Flagg, no one can give a better assessment of this than his Mavericks teammates.
Despite being just 18 years old, NBA fans have incredible expectations from Flagg, especially the Mavs Nation.
After all, Mavericks fans were in agony since the Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers trade. With that said, Max Christie, who was part of that trade, recently shared his honest views on Flagg.
“Cooper’s great. You guys are gonna be very excited to watch him. You should be. He’s so young. He’s 18… He’s got that drive to him, for sure. He’s gonna be good,” Christie said via Mike Curtis on X.
The ex-Laker added: “He’s gonna be an All-Star eventually in this league, hopefully if he continues to work the way he does. He’s got all the tools. He’s got the mindset. He’s going to be great for us.”
To be fair, being a perennial All-Star is the least of the expectations for Flagg. Either way, it’s great that Flagg’s teammates think so highly of him.

While there’s still time before the start of the regular season, fans have already witnessed what Flagg can do on the hardwood.
Sure, he wasn’t off to a good start in the 2025 NBA Summer League as Flagg was restricted by Bronny James in his debut.
Flagg bounced back in the next game with a 31-point performance. Since then, Flagg has been shut off as head coach Jason Kidd has seen what he wants from the former Duke star.
It will be interesting to see if he can translate these skills during the regular season and help the Mavs make a deep postseason run during his rookie year.
