'I Love it in Boston' – Boston Celtics Star Opens Up on Securing Massive Contract Extension in the 2024 Offseason

Derrick White remains with the Boston Celtics after the team broke up its championship core this summer by trading away Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday to the Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers, respectively.

Speaking on his podcast, White, who secured a four-year, $126 million contract extension last year, reflected on his time with the Boston Celtics so far, and the one-time NBA champion reaffirmed his love for the team and the city.

“I was super excited just to stay in Boston, to continue to be a Celtic, hopefully do great things in Boston,” White said. “More years in Boston: this is what I want; this is what my family wants. So Boston has been good.”

“My kids were born in Boston. I kind of developed as a player in Boston, and that’s really what it was about, ‘Where do I want to be? What’s going to make me happy?’ And I knew that was going to be in Boston… I love it in Boston,” he added.

It was recently revealed that Derrick White has an 87 rating on NBA 2K. While most stars typically complain about their 2K rating, the Boston Celtics guard is perfectly content with it.

“Everybody’s always upset about their 2K rating… I’ll be the one that’s not upset about it,” White said.

“I remember early in my career I was frustrated about it… It’s really just cool to be a part of the game and to have your own character/player. Anytime I do play 2K, I just pass it to me and try to dribble fast and launch shots,” he added.
