Tyrese Haliburton recently earned a new nickname after coming up clutch for the Indiana Pacers multiple times this postseason en route to reaching the NBA Finals for the first time.
ESPN analyst Richard Jefferson recently dubbed Haliburton as “The Moment.” During a recent interview with Malika Andrews, the Indiana Pacers star gave a candid response to his new moniker.
“It’s cool. Every time you’re able to experience such highs as a basketball player, the commentary changes. It’s new nicknames, new stories – all these things come out,” Haliburton explained on NBA Today.
“Well, I hope not. I hope it don’t get to those if we can control it,” he said when asked if he still has game-winners left in him. “(But) if the moment’s there I’m always ready.”
Tyrese Haliburton had Indiana Pacers fans worried for limping off the court after their 123-107 Game 2 loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, during the postgame press conference, the 25-year-old reiterated he’s good to go for Game 3.
“I’m fine… I feel fine and I’ll be ready for Game 3,” Haliburton said via ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel.
“This time of year, I don’t know if anybody is feeling perfect… So, (Haliburton) practiced. He went through everything. I know he has some discomfort; he feels it,” head coach Rick Carlisle explained. “But each day he’s getting better… We’ve got a couple guys that are slightly under the weather, but these guys are playing in the game.”
