Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum will likely return to a very different roster than the one he played his last NBA game with. Suffering a torn achilles in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, a series in which Boston fell to the New York Knicks, Tatum saw his season end.

While a return near the end of next season has not been officially ruled out for Tatum, there is a chance he does not play again until the 2026-27 campaign. Even if he returns sooner, it will likely be to a much different Celtics team than the one he last played for.

Widely expected to make significant changes this offseason, the Celtics have been rumored to be shopping several players. Among them is All-Defensive guard Jrue Holiday

On Wednesday, it was reported by ESPN's Shams Charania on the Pat McAafee Show that Boston's primary focus this offseason is exploring the trade markets of Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis and Sam Hauser ( h/t SleeperCeltics).

Just one day after this report, the Celtics shared a happy birthday message for Holiday on Instagram. Reacting to it, Tatum reshared the post without offering a word.

While Tatum did not have anything to say, Celtics fans in the comments shared their thoughts on the team making this post amid the trade rumors.

"I’m gonna cry when they trade him," said one.

"Happy b-day my gorgeous Jrue ❤️ Brad keep him with us ," said another.

"don’t trade him (i know we’re gonna)," one added.

"Keep him please," said another.

"I wanna keep him but it’s not looking like we are ," one wrote.

"no way yall wishing him a happy birthday before you trade him ," added one.
