On Saturday, the Chicago Bulls returned to game action against the visiting Golden State Warriors. Both teams were participants in one of the most active NBA Trade Deadline periods in NBA history.

On the Warriors side, their new shiny toy , who was a familiar face in the United Center, made his awaited debut. For the first time, Jimmy Butler donned Warriors colors after being moved at the deadline. Meanwhile, the Bulls debuted two of the three new roster additions from the Zach LaVine trade to the Sacramento Kings: Tre Jones and Kevin Huerter.

The Bulls played a spirited first half of basketball that resulted in the Bulls leading the Warriors 69-55. However, the Warriors patented third quarter momentum lit the United Center on fire and the Warriors finished the night with a win over the Bulls 132-111.

Matas Buzelis Stays Efficient and Adds Savvy in His Game

Bulls' rookie Matas Buzelis started his second career NBA game and picked up where he left off in terms of efficiency. Buzelis shot 60% from the field on 10 field goal attempts while also notching a career-high five assists.

Of course when discussing Matas Buzelis, one mustn't lose sight of his every evolving defensive IQ and that was on full display earning one steal and block in the game. The most impressive defensive moment in Buzelis' game came from the rookie drawing a foul on Warriors firebrand Draymond Green in the second quarter.

The Warriors Did the Third Quarter Warriors Thing

After halftime, the Bulls started the second half with a 14-point lead that was methodically evaporated by the Warriors' patented third-quarter shooting. Warriors guard Steph Curry delivered a 24-point scoring barrage in the frame that secured the Warriors' lead which never surrendered to the Bulls for the rest of the game.

Jimmy Butler Makes Instant Impact in a Warriors Uniform

New Warriors wing Jimmy Butler, originally drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2011, delivered instant impact on both ends of the floor. Butler displayed incredible scoring efficiency, shooting 58.3% from the field on 12 field-goal attempts, while also shooting 84.6% from the free-throw line on 13 free-throw attempts. Butler finished the game with 25 points.

Butler also found a stride as a secondary playmaker for the Warriors earning four assists and found his lane defensively earning one steal and one block.
