The New York Knicks finally broke through their 27-year finals drought in the most dominant way possible. Karl-Anthony Towns, who made his debut season with the team last year, would send the Knicks to the NBA Finals.
After the decisive 130-93 sweep clincher in Game 4, Towns shared his thoughts about the moment at the post-game conference. “It means the world,” he said plainly and directly, in just four words.
"It means the world."

KAT on reaching the NBA Finals with the team he grew up rooting for
New York punches their ticket to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999! https://t.co/arcXEqDFwP pic.twitter.com/vQrT2tdF6r
He finished with 19 points on efficient 8-of-11 shooting to go with 14 rebounds in just 26 minutes of play. He had a total of three assists, two steals, and two blocks while the Knicks controlled the game from start to finish.
“I grew up a Knicks fan, as was documented. What’s more of an honor is growing up in the area. I feel like the word ‘hope’ has been gone from the New York Knicks name for a long time. To be a part of this team that revives the word hope in the city, it’s something special, and it’s an honor,” he added.
In what was a historic playoff revival, the New York Knicks hit the road for 11 straight wins in the 2026 NBA Playoffs, overcoming a 2-1 first-round deficit against the Atlanta Hawks and moving on to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
Now comes the ultimate challenge. The Knicks are on the verge of championship glory; all they need is one more series to win their first title in more than 5 decades.
The Knicks are not done yet. As of now, they are waiting on the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs, given that the series is tied at 2-2. When they come out, New York will be ready.
The big thing this team can do while the West is still battling is rest for a bit. Game 1 of the NBA Finals is June 3rd, giving New York time to rest and get a handle on things. Both the Thunder and Spurs are already dealing with injuries. It’s a huge advantage.
But the Knicks are still on an 11-game winning streak entering the Finals. They are new, bold, and ready to consume. They have come after an intense series, and their opponents will be fatigued.
This isn’t just a playoff stretch. New York has not won a championship since 1973, which is over 50 years of waiting.
One more series. One more push. If the Knicks sweep the Finals, they will match the Warriors’ legendary 15-game postseason winning streak from 2017. The city is ready.
Comment down, do you think the Knicks will finally bring the title back to New York this year?
