Kendrick Perkins Doesn't Trust Kyrie Irving After Irving's Behaviour At Brooklyn Nets Media Day: "How Can You Trust Him When He Has A Problem With Holding Himself Accountable?"

Kyrie Irving is going to have a hard time winning over many of his detractors this season after his actions over the course of last season. Irving refused to get vaccinated, which led to him not being allowed to play games at home, and the Nets chose to not use him in away games until the team was depleted with injuries later in the season.

Irving spoke about his decision to not get vaccinated and claimed that his decision to not get jabbed cost him over $100 million because of the failed contract extension talks with the Nets. He didn't show any remorse and painted himself as a martyr, which upset ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins, who said Irving can't be trusted because he never holds himself accountable for his actions. 

"The thing I don't like about Kyrie is that among all the things he does off the court, he never holds himself accountable. KD just talked about accountability and owning up to some things, Kyrie did not. All Kyrie did in that interview was point the finger elsewhere and blame the media again, like he do time and time again. This is the problem I have. You're starting the season, and again, you don't know what you're getting out of Kyrie Irving. How in the hell can you trust him? He has a problem with holding himself accountable."

Will Kyrie Irving Impede Brooklyn's Path To An NBA Championship?

Kyrie's teammate, Kevin Durant, had the saga of the summer with his trade request. However, fans and media know that KD always focuses on having the perfect play on the court, so nobody is going to have questions about his commitment to the game even after his failed trade request.

Irving has been absent from the center stage of the NBA world ever since he moved to the Nets due to him either not staying healthy or not being cleared to play due to his vaccine issues. 

On the court, Irving is as good as any guard in the NBA and he showed this during his 60-point game last season. Getting on the court and showing the world that skill and talent takes a lot more out of Irving and everyone will be hoping that Kyrie maximizes his opportunities this season and helps the Nets get to a position where they can contend for the title.
