The Dallas Mavericks had no answer for the Washington Wizards’ Kyshawn George.

Heading into the game, the Dallas Mavericks were viewed as favorites to register an easy win over the Washington Wizards.

However, Kyshawn George had different thoughts as he led the Wizards to a memorable 117-107 win over the Mavericks as the Western Conference side fell to a 0-2 record to open the season.

Kyshawn George makes history; only Shaquille O’Neal was better

George recorded 34 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks against the Mavericks in the 10-point win

As a 21-year-old, this is a rare stat line, and the Wizards star became the second-youngest player to do so. The youngest? LA Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal.

O’Neal was unstoppable during the prime of his career. Evidently, Shaq stuffed the stat sheet for fun, and to match any of his records is a huge achievement.

With the season just starting, it will be interesting to see if George can break any more of O’Neal’s records as the Wizards star has seemingly taken a massive leap this offseason.

Kyshawn George has pivoted to playing a forward

The 24th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft entered the league as a shooting guard, and he played that position for the majority of his rookie year.

However, in his sophomore season, Wizards head coach Brian Keefe has moved George to the power forward position.

The results are nothing but positive as George is averaging 27.5 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.

He is also shooting an incredible 60.0% from the field and 66.7% from the three-point line. The only question is whether George can maintain these numbers for the rest of the season or not.
