The Los Angeles Lakers have never been shy when it comes to acquiring new players. If they believe they can go get a player to help them, whether in free agency or via trade, they will do it.
LeBron James is running out of time to win a title, so the Lakers are in win-now mode. Signing Luka Doncic to a contract extension has helped them become even more confident with a win-now strategy.
Rob Pelinka is not afraid to make moves if he believes the team is good enough to win big. They might be in pursuit of one forward to help them do just that.

Lakers insider Dan Woike theorizes that the Lakers could end up looking at Andrew Wiggins as a player to help improve the wing position.
"One area the team is focused on is upgrading the wing, where it needs more two-way talent. A player like Miami’s Andrew Wiggins, whom the Lakers weren’t interested in earlier this summer, is now a more desirable player, provided the price is right."
One of the big issues that the Lakers would face in pursuit of a trade for that is the amount of money that Wiggins is still owed on his contract.
"Wiggins, who turns 31 in February, is due $28.2 million this year and has a player option for $30.1 million for 2026-27. Marc Stein linked the Lakers and Wiggins in his newsletter earlier this week."

Los Angeles likely won't end up making a move until the trade deadline. They want to see how this current roster ends up playing together as the team before they end up changing it.
The Lakers look like they are going to figure out what is best for the roster at the deadline, so that is when they could possibly end up making a move for Wiggins.
After being traded to the Heat last season, Wiggins averaged 19 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He shot 45.8 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the 3-point arc.
