After making history as the first father-son duo to share the court in the NBA postseason at the start of their first-round series against the Houston Rockets, LeBron James and Bronny James added another milestone in Game 3 on Friday night.
The duo recorded the first father-son assist in NBA history during the second quarter at Toyota Center. James spotted his son cutting to the rim and delivered a perfectly timed lob, which Bronny finished with a smooth reverse left-handed layup to put the Lakers up 52–40.
“He was calling for it. I’ve seen his steps for so long. He was gathering. I was just like, ‘Go get it!” James said postgame about the moment. "I was glad he was able to go up and reverse it.”
Earlier, before the play, Bronny struggled to find his rhythm and was even mocked by the crowd with chants of nepotism coming from the stands. However, he responded with a clutch three-pointer, earning praise from his father.
"He also made a three when they disrespected him and go under on the pick and roll… that was a special moment obviously," James added.

Bronny logged just 9 minutes and scored 5 points, but he still outscored the entire Rockets bench, which combined for only 3 points. James, meanwhile, led the way with 29 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists, along with three steals and one block.
“I’m always super locked in…and over the last three games, there’s been many moments where I’m kinda locked out, if that makes sense,” he said. “And all those moments have been with Bronny. And it just keeps getting better and better. It’s like, wow.”
Entering the road game with a 2–0 series lead, the Lakers got an early boost when Kevin Durant was ruled out with a left ankle sprain. Los Angeles controlled much of the first half and carried a double-digit lead into the break.
However, the Rockets mounted a strong comeback after halftime and led by six points with just 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. A steal by Marcus Smart led to free throws that cut the deficit before LeBron tied the game with a clutch three-pointer after another steal, this time from Reed Sheppard.
The Lakers outscored Houston 11–7 in overtime to secure the win and take a commanding 3–0 lead in the series, a deficit no team has ever overcome in NBA history. Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday in Houston, and Los Angeles carries all the momentum heading into the matchup.
