LeBron James in Disbelief Over NBA's Big Announcement on Friday

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James proved age is just number this season. At age 40, he averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and 7.8 rebounds during the regular season.

Against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs, James averaged 25.4 points, 5.6 assists, nine rebounds. However, the 21-time All-Star and the Lakers couldn't get it done against Minnesota, losing the series in five games.

However, the four-time NBA Finals MVP is set to return to play for the 2025-25 season. He's due $52.6 million for the second year of a two-year, $101.4 million contract he signed last summer.

While some analysts predict he'll opt out of the final year to sign a new two-year contract with the Lakers, other NBA insiders aren't so sure.

"There’s always a chance that LeBron can walk,” The Athletic’s Jovan Buha said on his podcast. “As we’ve reported at The Athletic multiple times, and it’s not just my reporting, it’s been Sam Amick’s as well, the relationship has been a little frosty at times. It hasn’t always been the warmest over the past couple years."

It would be shocking if James suddenly left the Lakers, especially with his son, Bronny James, on the team. Rumors aside, the veteran forward received some very exciting news on Friday.

The All-NBA teams for the 2024-25 season were announced by the league on May 23. James earned All-NBA Second-Team honors and he couldn't believe it.

James posted on X, "ALL NBA at 40!! Low key crazy to me right now! Sitting here watching the playoffs just thinking about it. Blessed beyond I can even imagine."

James now has 21 All-NBA honors on his resume. Joining the Lakers forward on the All-NBA Second-Team, Anthony Edwards from the Timberwolves, Golden Stater Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Evan Mobley, and New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson.

Fellow Lakers star Luka Doncic, who averaged 28.2 points, 7.7 assists, and 8.2 rebounds this season, somehow didn't receive any All-NBA votes this year.
