LeBron James had a disappointing end to the season when the Los Angeles Lakers lost 0-4 to the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, looking at the 41-year-old’s performance, few critics could point to a flaw. After all, playing without Luka Doncic, the Akron-born player played a big part in guiding the Los Angeles Lakers to a first-round playoff victory against the Houston Rockets. Now, as trade rumors surrounding James continue to intensify, people have started floating a new potential destination.

According to reports from Tim Kawakami, the Golden State Warriors might offer the NBA legend a lucrative contract. James might get a $15.1 million ‘non-taxpayer midlevel exception’ if he agrees to join the likes of Stephen Curry this summer.

“If they maneuver their roster and payroll just enough, the Warriors could offer LeBron the $15.1 million nontaxpayer midlevel exception, which is monumentally short of the $52.6 million he made this season but is more than some other possible teams could pay him,” Kawakami wrote.

Kawakami also pointed out that the Golden State would not have to make a major trade to accommodate into the mix. Come to think about it, if the trade does go through, the James-Curry pairing will immediately make the Warriors’ stocks shoot up.

However, acquiring the 22-time NBA All-Star will not be a walk in the park. As several other franchises are waiting to swoop up the legend.

Will LeBron James Return To The Cleveland Cavaliers?

Recently, James’ relationship with the Lakers management has seemingly deteriorated. This has paved the way for the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the conversation. Initially, many believed that joining the Cleveland Cavaliers would require LeBron James to accept a significant pay cut, a scenario that appeared unlikely. But recently, Brian Windhorst spoke about a possible Jarrett Allen-LeBron James swap.

I’m not even sure if I were the Cavs, I would trade Jarrett Allen for LeBron. This is something the Laker followers have suggested. ‘Oh, just sign-and-trade LeBron for Jarrett Allen.’ Jarrett Allen makes $28 million. That could be a representative salary for LeBron,” Windhorst said.

On the contrary, Rob Pelinka has recently hinted at retaining James for another season. Thus, with a lot going on, fans will be eager to see which team the 4-time NBA champion suits up for in the next season.
