LeBron James signing gets Vince Carter’s immediate reaction

The waiting game is over and LeBron James finally announced his decision, joining the Philadelphia 76ers via free agency in his quest for another championship before he retires. His arrival gives the team a very formidable starting five, one that former NBA star Vince Carter believes is unfair for the rest of the league.

Prior to LeBron James’ free agency decision to sign with the 76ers, Carter speculated on his fit with the team and how that would essentially keep him fresh for the majority of the season.

“That’s cheating. That’s cheating because he doesn’t have to do much and still be him,” Carter said during a recent episode of ‘Cousins,’ alongside Tracy McGrady. “Now your fifth starter has to guard one of those guys. That would be crazy.”

With James now in the fold, the 76ers will trot out a starting lineup of James, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. A lot of that certainly hinges on the health of Embiid, but with the those other players around him, perhaps that’s the key to keeping him available for the season and playoffs without having to do too much.

This past season, the 76ers upset the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the NBA playoffs before being swept in the Eastern Conference Semifinals by the New York Knicks. Obviously, James, and Jaylen Brown, now give the team two playoff experienced vets who have won championships.

Aside from the Knicks themselves, the 76ers now look like potentially the next best team in the East.
