Meek Mill reacts to LeBron James’ move to 76ers

LeBron signed a two-year $8 million veteran minimum contract with the 76ers for his 24th season in the NBA. It also comes with a player option for his second year. He has high hopes for the 76ers next season and wants to bring the city a championship. The last time the 76ers won an NBA championship was in 1983.

In a series of posts on X, LeBron shared his plans for the 76ers and his mindset heading into next season.

“I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time,” he said.

The four-time NBA champion shared on social media how it was a “last-minute” decision to sign with the 76ers as he considered retirement.

“I was pretty sure I played my last game. I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and deicide if I still love this game,” he wrote. “I still truly love this game, and I have more to give.”

He concluded his posts, writing, “Thank you LA. Miami I’ll forever love and Northeast Ohio will always home!”

For the past 23 seasons, LeBron has played for four teams. He was drafted by his home team, the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, where he was the No. 1 overall pick. During his first stint on the Cavs, he won two regular-season MVP awards and brought the team to the 2007 NBA Finals. He then went to the Miami Heat and won his first two NBA championships back-to-back in 2012 and 2013. After claiming two titles for Miami, he went back home to Cleveland to win the franchise’s first title in 2016.

LeBron last played for the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won the 2020 NBA championship. He also made history playing alongside his son, Bronny James.

The 76ers also brought on Jaylen Brown in a blockbuster trade from the Boston Celtics, and signed free agents Anfernee Simons, Dean Wade and Ariel Hukporti during the July 2026 free agency period.

The official NBA schedule for the 2026-2027 season has not yet been released, but it is expected to drop sometime in mid-August.
