The Chicago Bulls will enter the 2025-26 season looking to take advantage of the weakened Eastern Conference as they try to end their playoff drought.
Of course, the Bulls missed the playoffs last season after they finished ninth in the East standings, marking the third consecutive season that they have missed the postseason.
They will now look to end their playoff drought this season behind their core of Josh Giddey, Coby White and Matas Buzelis along with some new additions to their roster that they made this offseason.
Chicago began the offseason by selecting Noa Essengue 12th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft and they also made a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers that landed them Isaac Okoro in exchange for Lonzo Ball.
With these moves, the Bulls were able to bolster their depth as they try to make a run at a playoff spot in the East this season.
While Chicago is looking to make a playoff run this season, they could also look to add more talent to their roster ahead of the trade deadline.
For the Bulls, most of the trade rumors circulating around the franchise include veteran center Nikola Vucevic, though they have also been linked to Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga.
Of course, Kuminga and the Warriors had a contract dispute this offseason that lasted multiple months and finally ended on September 30 when he signed a new two-year contract.
Despite this, Kuminga’s future in Golden State is up in the air and they are expected to try and move him whenever he becomes eligible to be traded on January 15, and the Bulls could be a team to watch as a potential suitor.
In a potential trade, the Bulls could send Ayo Dosunmu, Jalen Smith and draft capital to the Warriors in exchange for Kuminga and Trayce Jackson-Davis.
It is likely that the Bulls would not want to give up draft capital in this deal but with the Warriors’ high asking price for their young forward, they will likely have to.
Either way, making this trade would give the Bulls another solid young player to add to their core, though moving both Smith and Dosunmu would be a tough decision for them to make.
Despite this, Kuminga would provide the Bulls with another key young player to build around as they try to return to being a contender in the East and if they are able to continue to develop him, he could end up becoming a star for him.
Last season, the 23-year-old forward averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 45.4% from the field and 30.5% from three.
Kuminga has turned into a great scorer and a solid defender, though he does need the ball in his hands to be at his best on the offensive end.
Because of this, the Bulls may hold off on the trade, as Giddey and White are expected to lead the offense, making Kuminga’s fit uncertain.
