Raptors Rumors: NBA Insider Shares Latest Trade Update On Chris Boucher

Chris Boucher has been on a tear.

He has is coming off a fourth quarter masterclass against the Golden State Warriors, which lead the Toronto Raptors to victory. He scored 17 of his 18 points in the final frame help give the Raptors their second win in 18 games.

Boucher showcasing his talents in the Raptors’ most recent stretch of games will only help his trade value ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

Marc Stein appeared on Sportsnet’s The Raptors Show and talked about Boucher’s status as the trade deadline fast approaches:

“People are talking about Chris Boucher a lot more because of how well he’s playing lately. There’s no doubt about it, and he’s certainly someone who is at least perceived as available.”

Monday night’s game against the Warriors had representatives  in the building from the Memphis Grizzlies, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, and New York Knicks.

Boucher is on an expiring contract and at 32-years-old his long term fit with the team doesn’t make sense. Given his recent strong play, it seems likely that the Raptors will part ways with him in the coming weeks. The Raptors were looking to move Boucher at last season’s trade deadline but were unable to find a suitor to take on his multi-year deal. Now that he has one year left at $10.8 million and is set to hit unrestricted free agency this summer, finding a deal for him should be a lot easier. The Raptors should be able to get a second-round pick for Boucher this time around at the least.

Stein also mentioned that Bruce Brown is available ahead of the deadline. Although his contract at $23 million is harder to move and his value seems to be less than it was last season. Stein also mentioned that the Raptors don’t have to trade Kelly Olynyk who’s another Raptors player who has been on the rumor mill. He said the Raptors like him and that he’s on a manageable contract where they don’t have to force a trade now. It seems like Olynyk isn’t going anywhere, at least for now.
