The Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons engaged in a physical brawl on Sunday. Now, the players' punishments have been handed out.
Timberwolves players Donte DiVincenzo and Naz Reid have been handed one-game suspensions apiece, making them unavailable for the game against the Denver Nuggets.
Many expected Reid and DiVincenzo to be handed multi-game suspensions due to their roles in the brawl. Now, Timberwolves fans should find a silver lining with the punishments because they won't miss too many games.
Unfortunately, the game they will be missing is crucial for Minnesota. They want the sixth seed, so they want to maximize every result. Now, the Timberwolves are playing against the Denver Nuggets, a team they have dominated recently but are a vengeful ball club.
NBA discipline for Pistons-Timberwolves scuffle, sources tell ESPN:
— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) April 1, 2025
- Isaiah Stewart: 2 game suspension
- Donte DiVincenzo: 1 game suspension
- Ron Holland: 1 game suspension
- Naz Reid: 1 game suspension
- Marcus Sasser: 1 game suspension
Without Reid and DiVincenzo, the Timberwolves have a thin bench. Losing Reid is probably a big blow to the offense because he provides the spark off the bench, and he is always a dangerous threat from three-point range.
Without DiVincenzo, the Timberwolves lack a player who will work extremely hard on all aspects of the game. They will look to rookie Jaylen Clark to fulfill that role, considering his limitless energy as well.

The offensive responsibilities will be heavier for Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle. However, they performed well against the Pistons after the brawl when the Timberwolves were depleted.
Before the punishments were doled out, many Timberwolves fans were worried about Naz and Donte. This was amplified when looking back at the brawl footage because the fight spilled into the stands.
That is a big problem for the NBA because they don't want any physical altercation spilling into the crowd after the Malice at the Palace incident in 2004.
Now, the Timberwolves are pleased to see Reid and DiVincenzo missing only one game. However, it is the game against the Nuggets, which makes it bittersweet.
