The Mavericks are 1–2 after Sunday’s win over the Raptors, and while the record isn’t catastrophic, the noise around general manager Nico Harrison hasn’t quieted.
According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont continues to stand by Harrison despite ongoing “Fire Nico” chants and mounting fan frustration.
Stein reports that Dumont’s loyalty stems from one key reason — he personally signed off on Harrison’s shocking decision to trade Luka Doncic to the Lakers in February for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 unprotected first-round pick.
That move — dealing a 25-year-old who had made five straight All-NBA First Teams — still looms large in Dallas, even after the Mavericks landed Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 pick in the draft.
Harrison, who has two years left on his contract, reportedly has not engaged in any extension talks with the team.
The Mavs lost their first two games at home to San Antonio and Washington before picking up their first win Sunday night.
