According to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the San Antonio Spurs are not expected to trade for Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant

The Spurs have made only one offer to the Suns for Durant, who has one year left on his contract.

“The Spurs, who have gone silent in league circles over the last week, haven’t given any indications that they are seriously in a battle for Durant,” Siegel wrote. “San Antonio has made one offer, sources said, and it does not involve the second pick in this year’s draft. Durant making it known that he wants to play for the Spurs has given them leverage to sit back and watch how all of this plays out.

“San Antonio is interested in Durant and would welcome a trade for the future Hall of Famer, but it does seem as if the offer they have made is final. They do not feel any pressure to go all-in and leverage all of their assets for Durant, as the Spurs continue to keep their eyes on the future and other avenues to add superstar talents down the line.”

The Spurs have the second overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft, the 2025 Rookie of the Year, Stephon Castle, and two All-Stars, Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox

San Antonio is Durant’s No. 1 preferred landing spot, but he can’t control where he gets traded because he doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.

According to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Spurs are “not going to go all in” to acquire Durant from the Suns.

A top 75 player of all time, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season. The 15-time All-Star shot 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

Along with the Spurs, Durant is open to getting traded to the Houston Rockets or Miami Heat. The two-time Finals MVP and future Hall of Famer doesn’t want to get traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
