Houston Rockets guard Amen Thompson has had a wonderful start to his career in the NBA. Playing in his third year in the league, Thompson has averaged 13.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals per contest in 188 career games before Monday night's game against the Wizards.

He was on the NBA All-Rookie Team in the 2023-24 season and was named to the 2024-25 All-Defensive First Team.

Thompson has spent all three of his professional seasons with the Rockets after Houston selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Overtime Elite Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. The 23-year-old has had a very good 2025-26 season.

So far this season, going into Monday night, the guard has scored 17.3 points per game to go along with 7.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 57 appearances. He has helped lead the Rockets to a great year, as they currently sit in third place in the Western Conference.

During the fourth quarter of the matchup against the Wizards, Thompson headed to the locker room, reportedly reaching for his right ankle while sitting on the bench, according to The Athletic's Will Guillory. He did not return to the game.

After the Rockets beat Washington 123-118, Houston head coach Ime Udoka gave an update on the status of Thompson.

"Amen rolled his ankle in the fourth quarter per Udoka, [to be determined] on severity," said Houston Chronicle reporter Varun Shankar.

Before he left the game, Thompson had a great night on the floor, helping the Rockets take down the Wizards. He put up 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field with 12 rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.

So far this season, Thompson has been very dependable, as he's missed just two games. One of these came last Wednesday, when he was inactive with a quad injury.

The Rockets (38-22) will next play at home against the Golden State Warriors (31-29) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. It will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
