Russell Westbrook has been out of action for the Sacramento Kings in their last three games. The former NBA MVP has been dealing with a right foot contusion. He was upgraded to questionable for their last game — a 116-112 loss to the Washington Wizards on Sunday — but he was unable to play.
The good news for Westbrook is that he is trending in the right direction. The Kings are back in action on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies, and the 37-year-old logged a full practice on Tuesday.
Sacramento submitted its injury report for Wednesday’s contest, confirming Westbrook’s status for the game.
Westbrook is having a noteworthy campaign for the Kings this season. He’s made 48 appearances in 2025-26 (42 starts), averaging 15.4 points on 43.2% shooting, 6.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 29.6 minutes per contest. Westbrook is also knocking down 2.0 triples per game on a 35.0% clip.
The Kings will get that production back on Wednesday. This is after the team decided to give Westbrook the green light to return against the Grizzlies. Westbrook was not listed on the injury report, which means that barring any unforeseen setbacks, he should be back on the court on Wednesday night.
Another significant development for Sacramento centers on De’Andre Hunter. The Kings acquired the 6-foot-7 small forward from the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday as part of a three-team trade deal. Sacramento sent Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis to the Cavs.
Hunter is not on the injury report as well. He is expected to make his Kings debut on Wednesday against Memphis.
The Kings enter that game with a 12-39 record. They currently have the worst record in the NBA.
