Game 7 gave us all pressure, swings, and a brutal finish for Oklahoma City. On May 31, per league reports, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander exited after the Thunder’s 111-103 Western Conference Finals loss to the San Antonio Spurs, staying composed despite the heartbreak.
Even with a game-high 35 points and 9 assists, the back-to-back MVP couldn’t really push OKC through. The Spurs controlled large stretches, led by Victor Wembanyama and timely scoring. After the buzzer, SGA shifted focus away from frustration and toward respect for the winners.
Postgame, SGA broke down the defeat with honesty, crediting San Antonio’s execution and ability to respond whenever OKC tried building momentum in Game 7.
“They were just the better team tonight, from start to finish. And every time we tried to, like, cut into it and take control of the game, it felt like they had an answer. And a lot of times it felt like it was like tough shot-making, so hats off to them. Yeah, they just, they played better tonight and they deserved to win the game.”

For Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder, it’s a painful Game 7 exit, but one marked by leadership and composure.
Gilgeous-Alexander shut down any idea of influencing OKC’s offseason plans after their Game 7 loss. The MVP alluded that he won’t be part of roster talks with GM Sam Presti. Asked about potential roster changes on May 31, the 27-year-old kept it blunt and fully hands-off regarding decision-making.
“I will give zero input. I will let Sam Presti, the greatest GM ever, do his job.”
