The ongoing feud between Stephen A. Smith and Jaylen Brown is heating up, and it looks like it’s far from over.

After the Boston Celtics were knocked out of the playoffs by the Philadelphia 76ers, Tracy McGrady stirred the pot, suggesting that Brown may be feeling frustrated with the team.
In a recent episode of First Take, Smith didn’t hold back, hinting at deeper issues in the Celtics locker room.

Smith warned Brown, saying, “Jaylen Brown, be careful what you wish for. You really want me to start reporting on that level? You understand? Locker room, how the organization might think about you, how the city may feel about you, how Jayson Tatum may or may not feel about you, sneaker deals, endorsement deals, the list goes on and on. The season is over bro. You’re on Twitch trying to do what I do and talking about me needing to step away. It makes no sense.”

Smith appears to be threatening to reveal information that would hurt Brown’s feelings.

Smith Delivers Another Show-Stopping Response for Jaylen Brown

The heated back-and-forth between Smith and Brown ignited after the Celtics’ early playoff exit. Frustrated with the officiating and Joel Embiid’s aggressive play, the 29-year-old voiced his concerns. ESPN’s analyst quickly jumped in, criticizing Brown’s timing and framing the loss as a bigger issue than just bad officiating. He told Brown to “be quiet” and take a vacation unless he was angling for a trade.

Brown didn’t hold back on social media, firing back that he’d stay silent only until Smith retired, dubbing him the “face of clickbait media.” The tension escalated during a Twitch livestream, where Brown unleashed a storm of heated responses, attacking Smith’s journalistic integrity and demanding that he step away from the networks. Now, Smith is back with another jaw-dropping response during the recent episode of First Take.

“Get your a-- a studio. You looking like you in some dungeon in some little room… You making $54 million a year… get a studio with a director & a producer. … Stop being so damn cheap. You got the money,” Smith said (video here; warning: viewer discretion advised).
