Stephen Curry and Under Armour have agreed to part ways, ending a partnership that began in 2013 and evolved into the Curry Brand. The companies announced the split in a joint release this week, stating that Curry Brand will become independent and that Under Armour will continue to release the Curry 13 line through October 2026 as planned.
The break closes a 13-year commercial relationship that helped raise Under Armour’s profile in basketball and gave Curry an ownership stake in the Curry Brand. Under Armour framed the move as part of a broader restructuring and a focus on its core UA business.
Less than 24 hours after the announcement, Curry stepped onto the Warriors’ court for warmups in a pair of Nike Kobe 6 “Mambacita” shoes, a detail first posted by reporter Nick DePaula.

Curry began his NBA career with Nike before moving to Under Armour in 2013. Nike lost him after a disastrous pitch where presenters left another athlete’s name in the PowerPoint, implying Curry was only a Player-Exclusive, a costly sports-marketing blunder. One of the biggest blunders in Nike's history
On court Thursday night, Curry delivered a headline performance, leading the Golden State Warriors with a season-high scoring output (49 points) in a narrow 109-108 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
"I'm a free agent, I'm out here with new beginnings. I was blessed to have an unbelievable experience to take a chance on something that meant a lot to me over the last 13 years," Curry expressed about his decision postgame. "And I'm extremely proud of myself, my team, everybody who was able to touch that business for that long...I'm excited about the future."
"The sneaker industry is difficult, and like I said, things change over time and to the point of you give your best effort to create something sustainable and a little disappointing though how it turned out," Curry said when asked for the cause of that breakup.
