Suni Lee speaks out on OG Anunoby rumors

Much to the presumed chagrin of social media, it appears that Suni Lee and OG Anunoby are not actually an item.

The Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Lee spoke this week in an interview with Jarrod Castillo of The Mirror. During the interview, Lee was asked about the rumors linking her to the New York Knicks forward Anunoby.

Lee attended multiple Knicks home games last season and even posed for photographs with Anunoby. That led to Internet speculation that the two athletes had a romantic connection.

However, Lee shot down the speculation in the interview with Castillo. She revealed that she is “just friends” with Anunoby and that social media blew the situation out of proportion.

“Honestly, it just started off as a joke, and I feel like social media kind of just, like, took it further than that,” said Lee of the Anunoby rumors. “But yeah, we’re just friends, and I’m really good friends with a bunch of the guys on the Knicks team … There’s nothing there. We’re just friends. I fully support all of them, and I support the Knicks.”

Lee, a native of St. Paul, Minn., also noted in the interview that she is close with Karl-Anthony Towns (who began his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves before being traded to the Knicks) as well as Towns’ girlfriend Jordyn Woods. Additionally, Lee moved to New York herself last year and thus began attending Knicks games more often.

The 22-year-old Lee, who has won six career Olympic medals (including a gold and two bronzes at the Paris Games last year) was even trolled over Anunoby during a recent panel appearance in New York. But while there is nothing going on between her and Anunoby, Lee may be drawing interest from some other NBA players these days.
