The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly 'removed themselves' from Donovan Mitchell trade sweepstakes

One of the reported final contenders in the sweepstakes for Utah Jazz All-Star Donovan Mitchell has evidently exited the race.

The New York Knicks have been thought to be the frontrunner to acquire Mitchell all summer, but the Cavaliers had also recently entered the mix. Among the other squads still in contention for landing the guard include the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors.

It was reported earlier this week that the Knicks still have the "best package" to offer the Jazz in exchange for the 25-year-old.

Mitchell averaged 25.9 points, a career-high 5.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds and a career-high 1.5 steals during the 2021-2022 regular season.
