To fill their final roster space, the Minnesota Timberwolves are making sure they sign a guy who deserves it. Like the Wolves, most NBA teams are looking to complete their roster before the start of the 2025-26 season. Minnesota did not make any significant additions to its roster. Although they couldn’t keep some of their players, who signed with different teams.

The Wolves lost Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who signed with the Atlanta Hawks. The organization also couldn’t keep Luka Garza and Josh Minott, who both signed as free agents with the Boston Celtics. Still, Minnesota kept most of its key players and re-signed the veteran players.

The management re-signed veteran forward Joe Ingles to a one-year contract. The 2024 Sixth Man of the Year center Naz Reid committed to the Wolves when he signed a five-year, $125 million contract extension. Also, three-time All-Star Julius Randle inked a three-year, $110 million extension.

According to The Athletic’s Jon Krawcyznski, the Minnesota Timberwolves have hinted that they are interested in giving the final spot in the roster to Bones Hyland. The 2021-22 All-Rookie Second Team member is a heavy favorite to be part of the team. Krawcyznski reported that the Wolves are exploring backcourt options, including Malcolm Brogdon, Cam Payne and Landry Shamet.

“The Wolves have looked into several candidates for the spot, including Malcolm Brogdon, Cam Payne and Landry Shamet,” Krawcyznski reported. “However, all indications are that Bones Hyland is the front-runner to get that final spot, league sources said. Hyland signed a two-way contract with the Wolves in February, played briefly in Iowa and spent the rest of his time with the Timberwolves.”

Last season, Hyland started the season with the Los Angeles Clippers. However, he was traded to the Timberwolves midway through the campaign and appeared in just four games.

During the offseason, most star players spend time working on their on-court performances. Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle is among the stars who give plenty of attention to his game. This summer, former Wolves guard Patrick Beverley got to have an offseason workout with the star forward.

After working out with the big man, Beverley couldn’t help but be amazed by his skills and talent.

“I was on the team with Julius Randle yesterday, and ‘oh my God’, he takes and makes some tough a__ shots. He’s really talented,” Pat Bev said.

“His handle was way better than I thought it was. His fadeaway middie is legit, like he’s bouncy… he can make plays, he’s tough. I didn’t know he was that tough.”

This is why Randle is among some of the best players in the league. The combination of his skills and talent separates him from the average NBA player.
