The Philadelphia 76ers ended up securing their first win of the season on the first night as they beat the New York Knicks 106-100. This win started to show the 76ers got it right by adding stars this offseason like Jaylen Brown and LeBron James.
However, Tyrese Maxey also proved that he should still be the focal point player that Philadelphia builds around.
Maxey ended up creating history as he scored 28 points, marking the sixth consecutive season opener in which he has scored 20 points. This ties the record set by Julius Erving and Hal Greer.

Maxey’s speed and overall consistency make him a true foundational player that the 76ers can’t shy away from building around just because of the new stars they have on the roster. Instead they should be making sure those stars help Maxey further reach his potential this season.
