For the tail-end of the 2010s up to the middle of this decade, Jimmy Butler was hailed as the heart of the Miami Heat. He was everything that the South Florida team stood for. One can only imagine that his departure hurt the Erik Spoelstra-led team's plans for the NBA Playoffs and future. Tyler Herro posits that this was actually the case.
The Heat can still make the NBA Playoffs. They have to win against the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Play-In Tournament, and even then, a Cleveland Cavaliers squad that's fairly hungry awaits them.
This journey to land the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference was not easy, especially without Jimmy Butler. Tyler Herro outlined how difficult everything was, via Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.
“With the moves we made at the deadline, it’s a tough transition being in something for so long and playing for a certain way for so long and then having to transition midseason and also having guys feel comfortable and stuff like that," the Heat star said.
Coach Erik Spoelstra now has to rely on Herro and Bam Adebayo such that they get past the Bulls and reach the NBA Playoffs. This squad is not new to adversity and seeing the light in very tough situations. All they had to do was not lose sight of their goal and trust one another.
“We’ve definitely leaned on each other just to help lead the team, but also as we’re trying to continue to raise our level of play. Leaning on each other and making sure we got each other’s backs pretty much on all facets. We talk about just no matter what, we always have to be on the same page," Herro added.
Will this be enough to punch them a ticket to a deep postseason run?
