The New York Knicks lost the second night of a back-to-back to suffer their first defeat of the season.
After beating the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics, the New York Knicks suffered a frustrating loss to the Miami Heat.
Miami were more ruthless and efficient against the Knicks to record a 115-107 victory.
While they had 37 points from Jalen Brunson, the Knicks badly missed Mitchell Robinson, who had been ruled out with injury.
And for all the talk about the deep Knicks bench, none of them scored in double figures, while on Miami’s side, Simone Fontecchio and Jaime Jaquez Jr scored 31 points combined.
The one player on the Knicks bench who came closest to hitting double digits was Jordan Clarkson, an offseason signing from the Utah Jazz.
Clarkson scored 8 points in 15 minutes, showing why he is a former Sixth Man of the Year.
He is gradually trending upwards, after scoring 4 points in his Knicks debut and 6 in the following game.
Former Knicks player Wally Szczerbiak believes it won’t be long before Clarkson explodes for 30 points.
Szczerbiak told MSG Network’s postgame show: “I like the fire I saw out of Clarkson in the fourth quarter.
“He kind of just said to himself, ‘I’m done thinking out here. I’m dealing with a whole new offense, new coaching staff, new team. I’m just going to go out there and get myself going’.
“At some point he’s got to stop looking around and trying to be nice to everyone and say, ‘I got to go be me. I got to go get buckets.’
“I like the fire that I saw in the fourth quarter, and the fact that he was in there in the fourth quarter, missed some very makeable shots.
“He’s going to have a game where he goes off to 30 very soon.”
The Knicks started Ariel Hukporti at center, but he played only 10 minutes of the game.
He ended up with 0 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist.
Guerschon Yabusele played 16 minutes from the bench, but scored only 2 points, claiming 6 rebounds.
