Who’s left? Best NBA free agents still on the market
Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images

NBA training camps are almost here, and yet some familiar names remain unsigned.

Here’s a look at some of the most notable free agents still looking for a deal:

Jonathan Kuminga, SF, Warriors (RFA). Pulled from Steve Kerr’s rotation at times last season, Kuminga is expected to move on eventually. Athletic wing with upside, but does Golden State still see him as part of the future?

Malik Beasley, SG. One of the league’s top three-point specialists, drilling 41.6 percent last season. Instant offense, but questions about the gambling probe remain.

Quentin Grimes, SG, Sixers (RFA). After arriving from Dallas, he nearly averaged 22 a night in Philly. Big payday could be coming — if not this summer, then next.

Al Horford, C. Not the player he once was, but still a steady defender and floor-spacer who says he plans to keep playing.

Russell Westbrook, PG. No longer the MVP version, but gave Denver some bite last year in a smaller role. Teammates still love him.

Precious Achiuwa, C. Energy big who can switch defensively and protect the rim. Limited offensively but useful in the right spot.

Malcolm Brogdon, PG. Rough, injury-plagued season in Washington, but still a trusted veteran guard when healthy.

Ben Simmons, PG. The name stands out more than the production now. Reportedly weighing retirement after a rocky year split between Brooklyn and the Clippers.

Other role players like Amir Coffey, Gary Payton II, Thomas Bryant, Garrison Mathews and Cameron Payne are also available.

Bottom line: Training camps will create opportunities, but for now, a surprising number of veterans and former lottery picks are still waiting on that call.
