Who's New Fan-Favorite for Pacers?
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Indiana Pacers won a close 121-114 ball game over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. The game featured the emergence of a new hero for Pacers fans.

It's easy to pay attention to stellar performances like the ones of Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam. Haliburton had 28 points and 10 assists, while Siakam scored a team-high 29 points. However, there are always players who make big contributions that do not always make it into the box score.

Pacers guard Quenton Jackson played a season-high 32 minutes against the Blazers. He registered nine points, five rebounds, and four assists in the process. Jackson was also tasked with often being the primary defender on Anfernee Simons.

At the post-game press conference, Carlisle made sure that his efforts did not go unnoticed.

"He's become a crowd favorite," Carlisle told reporters. "Indiana fans appreciate anybody that plays with that unbridled energy, effort, all those things. He plays with personality."

Carlisle continued highlighting what makes Jackson special: "He's a likable guy. He's a likable player. We're taking him, on a two-way contract, and put him on the other team's best perimeter player every night. There's nothing easy about that."

The Pacers continue to be without a lot of key players, due to injury. Jackson has started his last five game with the team, as a result.

In those contests, the third-year pro is averaging 10.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.0 steal per game. His shooting splits are also impressive. Jackson is hitting 51.2 percent of his shots from the field, and a scorching-hot 41.7 percent from beyond the arc.

Pacers fans will get another opportunity to support the hard-working guard on Friday, when the team hosts the Detroit Pistons.
