The Seattle Seahawks did something in Week 2 that they’re extremely used to doing- beat the Arizona Cardinals.

This was an interesting matchup heading in. The Cardinals had an impressive Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Chargers and their offense in particular looked much better than anybody expected. Plus, the Seahawks are dealing with some notable injuries.

Well, none of that ended up mattering. The Seahawks dominated the Cardinals and won 31-7. It’s the Seahawks’ 10th-straight victory over the Cardinals and gives the team an early division win in 2026.

Now, let’s talk about our biggest takeaways from this game.

Drew Lock is Legit

It’s always scary to have to play games without your starting quarterback. Sam Darnold has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league over the last two years, too, so losing him is a big deal.

Well, backup Drew Lock has stepped up in a huge way for the team. Lock led the team to a win in Week 1 over the Patriots and then put forth on another fantastic showing in Week 2. Lock completed 19 of 26 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns against the Cardinals.

Obviously, the team still wants Darnold back, but Lock is doing everything you could possibly hope for out of a backup.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the Best Receiver in Football

Jaxon Smith-Njigba had an incredible game again in Week 2. The receiver caught nine passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns. At this point, it’s more surprising when Smith-Njigba DOESN’T do something incredible.

We talked about how good Lock has been, but it definitely helps to have a receiver like Smith-Njigba. The receiver is the perfect security blanket, and he hauls in everything that comes in his vicinity.

This is the Best Defense in Football

There’s no doubt about it at this point- the Seahawks again have the best defense in football. They’ve only allowed two touchdowns through two weeks, and they held Jacoby Brissett to under 100 passing yards in Week 2.

The Cardinals actually have a decent offense with some nice weapons. However, they were all neutralized in Week 2, with tight end Trey McBride being the only one to score. The Seahawks picked up five tackles for loss and seven quarterback hits against the Cardinals.

It’s going to be hard for any offense to move the ball on this defense. And starting safety Ty Okada hasn’t even played yet this season and the unit is still this good.
