4 incredible overreactions from Eagles' first week of OTAs fans should buy into

Last week, was the completion of the Philadelphia Eagles' first week of OTAs as they participated in workouts on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

The media had the opportunity to check out the Wednesday OTAs, that was filled with many storylines. It started with Bryce Huff not showing up and Nolan Smith Jr. working out despite his torn triceps injury.

While it is too early to determine where the Eagles are in their development through the offseason, that doesn't stop the overreactions from coming out. Some of them might be justifiable in following.

Cooper DeJean's versatility will lead to a Pro Bowl selection

It sure was great to see DeJean out on the field in the secondary with Quinyon Mitchell, but the way he is going to be used should give Eagles fans excitement for his potential. DeJean was seen playing outside cornerback and nickel as it appears Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has a jack-of-all-trades defender that will be in different spots. Having that kind of versatility only proves more that PFF's number one ranked cornerback in 2024 is well on his way to a Pro Bowl season.

Will Shipley could be the next Brian Westbrook

Remember how great Westbrook was after starting as a returner before becoming an offensive weapon in the passing game and running game in Philadelphia? Shipley is quietly following in his footsteps as he has already proven to be a good returner last year and OTAs showcased his skills in the passing game with five catches on five targets. Saquon Barkley is in a league of his own, but he will eventually hit his peak in age and will open the door for Shipley to legitimately be a 1,000-yard rusher and 700-yard receiver in the future if it plays out in his favor.

Jalyx Hunt is 2024 Nolan Smith Jr.

Bryce Huff is gone after being traded to the San Francisco 49ers, which has opened the door to Hunt working off the other edge position opposite of Smith in the starting lineup. Hunt did not get to play as much last season in his rookie year, but his three quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks in the postseason were enough to see that he could be something special. Smith didn't explode onto the scene until his second year last season, and Hunt is on the same path to success that Smith was on.

Tanner McKee could be a starting quarterback elsewhere

McKee was excellent to watch against the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants late in the season with his four touchdowns and no interceptions, so expectations were high for the young quarterback. On Wednesday, he completed 14 of his 18 passes and threw a touchdown pass at OTAs. No doubt, it is an overreaction to say that he can be a starter with another team. Still, if Eagles fans look at the New Orleans Saints' situation, Kellen Moore, McKee's former offensive coordinator and current Saints head coach, would take him in a heartbeat if available.
