South Carolina's Brandon Cisse is one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, with the athleticism and playmaking instincts to create big plays when the ball comes his way. His prowess in man coverage and ability to get his hands on the ball could be enough to sneak him into the first round.

Here's everything NFL fans need to know about Cisse heading into this year's draft:

Age: 20

Brandon Cisse's Strengths

Cisse made an immediate impact after transferring from NC State, showing off athleticism and man coverage skills that made him a true shutdown artist for the Gamecocks. He’s got elite movement skills in every direction, with the lateral quickness to match high-end route-runners, and the straight-line speed to stick with burners down the field. His transitions are seamless, switching gears and closing on anything in front of him, and he’s annoyingly physical, using his length effectively at the line of scrimmage and the catch point. That same mentality serves him well against the run, where he’s always willing to fight through blocks on the perimeter to get involved. He can follow an opposing team’s No. 1 receiver all over the field, lining up outside or in the slot.

Brandon Cisse's Weaknesses

Much more comfortable in man coverage than zone, Cisse doesn’t play with the same level of urgency and confidence when he’s not locked into a 1-on-1 matchup, and his spatial awareness with zone assignments is inconsistent. His physicality can cross the line into penalty territory, and he needs to wrap up more often as a tackler instead of just throwing his shoulder into the fray. He has the speed to recover most of the time, but pump fakes and double-move routes can bait him into early bites.

Final Analysis

Cisse has all the physical traits to be a shutdown corner at the next level, especially for any team that prioritizes man coverage and asks their corners to press often. Improving his awareness and instincts in zone coverage would make him a more complete player, as well as polishing his tackling technique and being more judicious with his contact, but the foundation is there for Cisse to become a star.
