The Denver Broncos found another young offensive piece late in the 2026 NFL Draft after selecting tight end Dallen Bentley out of the Utah Utes football in the seventh round. The tight end has now revealed how he feels about his chance to play under head coach Sean Payton.

Bentley entered the draft following a breakout final season at Utah, where he recorded 48 catches for 620 yards and six touchdowns across 13 games. His production helped him emerge as one of the more productive tight ends in the Pac-12 during the season.

“I’m super excited,” Bentley said on Sunday. “I’m thrilled, super excited to be part of the Broncos team and work under him (Sean Payton), and his offense, and be a part of that tight end group. So I’m super thrilled.”

Payton and Denver’s scouting department targeted Bentley because of his size, blocking ability, and versatility. The head coach even spoke about what the prospect brings to the team.

“With Bentley, there’s a more in-line wide, bigger. He does a great job down the field,” Payton said on day 3 of the draft in May.

Bentley already participated in the rookie minicamp and is expected back at team headquarters for Organised Team Activities in early June. Mandatory minicamp will follow later in the month before training camp begins in late July.

Denver’s tight end room already includes veteran Evan Engram, but Bentley will now have a chance to develop inside an offense that has consistently featured productive tight ends throughout Payton’s coaching career.

Broncos Quietly Secure Key Pieces Before Training Camp Begins

The Denver Broncos kept moving through their 2026 rookie class after officially signing safety Miles Scott, tight end Justin Joly, tight end Dallen Bentley, and linebacker Red Murdock earlier in May.

According to the Broncos Wire, Joly arrives in Denver after a productive run at NC State Wolfpack football. The fifth-round pick finished last season with 49 catches and seven touchdowns.

Scott also brings an interesting background after switching from wide receiver to defensive back during his college career at the Illinois Fighting Illini football.

Broncos general manager George Paton said the team liked Scott’s instincts and physical style despite him being relatively new to the position.

Murdock, meanwhile, joins Denver after putting together a highly productive career at Buffalo Bulls football.

Paton called him “a tackling machine” and pointed to his ability to force turnovers after he finished college with an NCAA-record 17 forced fumbles.

The Broncos now have most of their draft class under contract as the team prepares for the OTAs and training camp later this summer.
