Browns G Zak Zinter takes a big step in his football career just after being drafted
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns third-round draft pick Zak Zinter accomplished a pretty big feat when rookie minicamp began yesterday.

After breaking his tibia and fibula against Ohio State back on Nov. 25, 2023, Zinter put on the cleats and helmet for the first time and was active on the first day of minicamp.

Following practice, head coach Kevin Stefanski commented on where Zinter stands.

"He looks good," Stefanski said. "He's comfortable and he’s working very hard with Andy [Dickerson] and Roy [Istvan] and those guys. Just really pleased with where he is, but he looked comfortable to me."

Zinter was the third-round selection after a standout career at Michigan that ended with an unfortunate broken leg. Since that injury, it appears that ZInter has been able to fully recover.

Cleveland has already signed Zinter to his four-year rookie contract along with four other rookies. Second-round pick DT Michael Hall Jr.

After getting back on the field, there is no worry about conditioning with Zinter at this point. He is no different than where everyone else is, which is trying to get into football shape.

“I think you could probably say that about everybody. What happens is you’re in really good Pro Day shape and you’re in shape for the combine and you’re getting ready to run 40-yard dashes and that’s not really football. I think a lot of these guys are going to work themselves back into football shape. Zak’s no different than a lot of those guys.”

Browns will practice through Sunday for rookie minicamp and wrap up their first time together in Berea.
