Browns Quarterbacks Are Already 'Embarrassing' Themselves At Practice

The Cleveland Browns have yet to decide who will be their starting quarterback for the 2026 season. It sounds like it could be a while before first-year head coach Todd Monken makes that decision, too.

The Browns are currently in OTAs. We're still months away from training camp, the preseason and the regular season, but NFL teams are getting in some optional work this month, a couple of weeks following the NFL Draft.

Apparently, the Browns' quarterbacks have some serious work to do.

Monken said that it's "embarrassing" how many interceptions have been thrown during no-contact, 7-on-7 drills.

Welcome to Cleveland, Todd.

"That goes for both Deshawn and Shedeur … they both got 1 each in 7on7," one fan wrote.

"God I love Monken he’s right shame on the QB’s," one fan added.

"Annnnnnnd we’re off for the 2026 season of Cleveland #Browns football. Good times ahead. #DawgPound," one fan added.

"Deshaun and Shedeur both guilty," one fan added.

Deshaun Watson could have the upper hand right now

Watson, who has missed the past season and a half with an injury, is believed to be the leader for the starting quarterback competition right now.

"Deshaun has a great chance, fresh start, offensive-minded coach, who has, in his past, been able to work with all kinds of different quarterbacks and make him successful," Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said at the league meetings in Phoenix two months ago. "So Deshaun has a great chance to do that now."

Monken agrees.

"Any time that you have a player that at one time has exhibited the skill set at an elite level," Monken said at the NFL combine in February. "I think you're always going to give them the benefit of the doubt that somehow we might be able to get that out of him again, and I think that's how you should look at every player. I've said that. You guys have heard me say it. I'm going to let it play out."

But it sounds like everyone behind center has work to do in Cleveland right now.
