Recent rumors linked Cleveland Browns star pass-rusher Myles Garrett with both the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Meanwhile, Browns reporter Daryl Ruiter of Cleveland sports radio station 92.3 The Fan said on Monday morning that he thinks there is a "40 percent" chance that Garrett is still with the Browns when the club's mandatory minicamp begins on June 9.
Later on Monday morning, Browns insider Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland/The Land on Demand explained why he is not buying the latest Garrett-related chatter.
"If the Browns had a trade in the works for Myles weeks ago or months ago, or when they made the modification to his contract, they would have drafted a defensive end," Grossi explained. "They're already shorthanded at defensive end with Myles Garrett. So, it's all smoke. It will blow out. Don't get your hopes up, those who want some exciting Browns news in the next 48 hours. I say it's not happening this year."
Grossi was referencing how Garrett and the Browns agreed to change when option bonuses attached to his contract would be due earlier this offseason. Meanwhile, Cleveland spent no high-value draft picks on a pass-rusher back in April.
Unlike what happened in February 2025, Garrett has not yet gone public with a trade request this offseason. Following that request, he signed a four-year, $160M contract extension that included $123.5M guaranteed to stay with the Browns. However, the Rams and Eagles may be willing to pay a "'Godfather' offer" price to land Garrett as soon as this week.
"If you're gonna trade him," Grossi added about Garrett, "you announce it to everyone in the league. 'Hey, give us your best offer.' They're so reluctant to do that, as if it's humiliating him or embarrassing him. He wants out. He still wants out. It's not the draft picks. Would you trade Myles Garrett for a franchise quarterback should be the question?"
Many members of the NFL community seem to believe that the Browns don't have a long-term quarterback on their roster this spring. Trading Garrett could allow the Browns to grab their desired signal-caller in the 2027 draft, which is expected to feature multiple top-tier quarterback prospects.
