Buffalo Bills Hit With Extremely Concerning Josh Allen Take

The Buffalo Bills have twice advanced within one victory of the Super Bowl during Josh Allen’s tenure as starting quarterback, only to fall short each time.

Allen is approaching his 30th birthday amid significant roster and coaching changes this offseason, intensifying the urgency for the franchise to secure its first championship.

Analysts have begun questioning whether the team’s opportunity to contend for a title is narrowing, with some suggesting Allen might need a change of scenery to claim a Lombardi Trophy.

On a recent episode of “The Herd,” commentator Jason McIntyre offered a stark assessment of the quarterback’s prospects in western New York.

“I think I said last year that the Super Bowl window is closing,” McIntyre said. “I think Josh Allen’s got to leave Buffalo to win a Super Bowl.”

McIntyre drew parallels between Allen’s circumstances and those of veteran signal-caller Matthew Stafford, who endured years of limited postseason success with the Detroit Lions before capturing a title in his debut campaign with the Los Angeles Rams.

“The same way we saw Matt Stafford,” McIntyre said. “Really good quarterback in Detroit. Didn’t get to the playoffs as often because he never had the supporting cast.”

The analyst expressed doubts about whether Buffalo currently possesses the surrounding talent necessary for a deep playoff run, noting Stafford’s rapid success after joining a more complete roster.

“You put Stafford with the Rams and boom, Super Bowl,” he said. “Can you imagine Josh Allen winning a Super Bowl in Buffalo? He doesn’t have the infrastructure.”

Allen himself has shown no public frustration with the organization or its recent direction. He maintained a strong relationship with former head coach Sean McDermott, even inviting him to his wedding last year, and has expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with new head coach Joe Brady, who previously served as his quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.

The Bills enter the 2026 season with considerable expectations after watching their run of five straight AFC East championships end last year, when the New England Patriots claimed the division title.

ESPN analyst Dan Graziano has also raised concerns about the franchise’s remaining competitive window following the decision to part ways with McDermott and several veteran contributors.

“No one should feel safe,” Graziano said. “I would say they are toward the back-end of a window.”

Graziano indicated that the core group responsible for multiple near-misses may have already experienced its peak opportunities.

“This group that has been close so many times knows that it probably has less time in front of it than behind it,” Graziano said.

As training camp approaches, the Bills face heightened scrutiny over whether their current roster construction can finally deliver a championship before the window potentially closes further.
