The Chicago Bears have been out of action for an extended period of time. The team's last game was played on September 28th and the next game isn't until October 13th against the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.
That's an unusual amount of time between games for a typical NFL bye week but it came at the right time for the Bears.
Head coach Ben Johnson and his staff had ample time to go over the first four games and the players, such as quarterback Caleb Williams, got some much-needed time to get away.
"It's a week of mental rest and then obviously being able to find ways to get away, in a way, just because it's going to be a long stretch of games, 13-plus games," Williams explained. "So, I think I did a good job with that this year of getting back into it a day or two before we actually get back in here, getting back in the facility, staying for a few hours, just getting back into that mode of being here for a few hours."
During his time off, Williams spent some time building up his life outside of football as well and on Thursday, the announcement was made that Williams entered into a new investment opportunity.
Even before being drafted first overall by the Bears in 2024, Williams has had his eye on other ventures outside of football in order to set up the best future for himself after his playing days are over. And he's far from the first player to think big picture in this way.
Williams launched his 888 Midas Investment Firm in June of 2024 to start dabbling into outside business opportunities. The young quarterback's latest investment was joining the investor group of the Boston Legacy Football Club.
“With 888 Midas, we are so excited to be part of the Boston Legacy Football Club,” Williams said via the team's statement. “Women’s sports is a movement, and I admire and respect the work that the team and the NWSL continues to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes. Boston Legacy Football Club is building something special, and we’re proud to be a part of what’s next.”

The Boston Legacy Football Club will kick off its inaugural season in 2026 as the 15th team of NWSL and already had a wide list of notable investors including Aliyah Boston of the Indiana Fever and three-time Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman. The team will host its games at Gillette Stadium, the same stadium shared by the New England Patriots of the NFL and the New England Revolution of the MLS.
This news comes two weeks after Williams and 888 Midas joined berry brand Fruitist, a company Williams noted he "believes in" and a product he is devoted to.
All of these outside ventures allow Williams to explore his interests beyond football even more and use his platform and revenue for companies he's passionate about.
