Cam Newton: Seems like Bill Belichick has 'direct line to the football gods'

Bill Belichick is arguably the greatest coach in NFL history, winning six Super Bowls and continuing to stay one step ahead of opponents due to his next-level game-planning and ability to get the absolute most out of his roster. Quarterback Cam Newton became the latest singer of the legendary Patriots coach's praises. The former NFL MVP gushed about Belichick's preparedness for whatever the other team might throw New England's way.

"Listen, everything that coach coaches throughout the week, it tends to come up," Newton said. "I'm beginning to think he either has like a Staples easy button or a Buffalo Wild Wings button or just a straight direct line to the football gods because he's, like, a football whisperer when it comes to anticipating what the game's going to be like, how we need to win, and things like that. I'm extremely impressed with that."

Despite Belichick having the football gods on speed dial, the Patriots have struggled without Tom Brady and are in danger of missing the playoffs for just the second time since 2001. At 4-5, New England currently sits behind the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins in the AFC East standings and is 10th overall in the AFC standings.

Newton and the offense have been a big part of why New England has failed to win games this season. They are scoring just 21 points per game this season, which ranks them 27th in the league. Perhaps the football whisperer has a few more tricks up his sleeve to help turn the season around before it's too late.
