Chargers QB Justin Herbert, Madison Beer announce engagement

“I love people. I meet someone, I love them. I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m never letting you go. You’ll be with me forever until you hurt me.’ That’s the deal,” Beer said in an interview with Cosmopolitan last year. “I think I also, because I have such a weird life and never feel safe and comfortable with someone, when I cross that line of ‘you’re my boyfriend,’ it feels really big. I love all the attention in the world, which sometimes means I shoot myself in the foot because obviously no one can give me that all the time. But I’m just a lover girl.”

Now, just weeks ahead of the 2026 NFL season, Herbert and Beer will began planning their marriage. They will become the latest NFL star/musical artist to be married, joining the likes of the aforementioned Swift and Kelce, Ciara and Russell Wilson, and Hailee Steinfield and Josh Allen.

With Herbert at the helm, the Los Angeles Chargers posted an 11-6 record and appeared in the postseason last year. They, however, mustered just three points in a 16-3 Wild Card loss to the eventual AFC Champion New England Patriots.

Across six seasons, Herbert has passed for 24,820 yards and 163 touchdowns. He was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2020, and received his second Pro Bowl nod last season. NFL.com’s Bobby Kownack named Herbert as a player to ‘buy stock in’ ahead of the season.

“Mike McDaniel is the perfect offensive coordinator to unlock Herbert’s full potential,” Kownack wrote. “The same way McDaniel helped Tua Tagovailoa overcome his early-career struggles to become a Pro Bowler in Miami, he could easily propel Herbert, already all-star caliber, into elite territory. It also doesn’t hurt that the Chargers signed a proven center (Tyler Biadasz), spent a second-round pick on offensive lineman (Jake Slaughter) and are getting bookends Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater back from injury.”

The Chargers open their 2026 campaign on Sept. 13 at home against the Arizona Cardinals.
