Chiefs Announce Kenneth Walker III Update on Monday

Kenneth Walker III and the Kansas City Chiefs remained perfect in Week 2, jumping to 2-0 on the 2026 NFL season after a 33-30 overtime win over Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts on “Sunday Night Football.” Now, the Chiefs will look to win a third straight, hitting the road for the first time to take on De’Von Achane and the Miami Dolphins.

After winning Super Bowl MVP with the Seattle Seahawks, Walker signed a three-year, $43.05 million contract with Kansas City, and he has been a big addition. Against the Colts, the running back tallied 24 carries for 117 yards, adding six catches for 61 yards as well.

And in his Chiefs debut in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, Walker had himself another 100-yard game on the ground, recording 23 carries for 173 yards and one touchdown, adding 18 yards and another score through the air.

With his two 100-yard gains to begin his career in Kansas City, Walker becomes the first Chiefs player to record 100 or more rushing yards in back-to-back games.

The last player to achieve this feat was former Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who won two Super Bowls in Kansas City. He tallied back-to-back games of 100+ rushing yards during the 2021 season, recording 100 yards in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos and 102 yards in Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Walker even has the most rushing yards in the NFL through Week 2’s “SNF,” totaling 47 carries for 290 yards. Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry is behind hime with 212 yards.

And on Monday, the Chiefs took to social media to share the new milestones for Walker.

“K9 is the first Chief to rush for 100+ yards in back-to-back games since 2021,” the Chiefs wrote on X. “Through two weeks, Walker leads the NFL in rushing yards (290) and scrimmage yards (369).”
