Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is off to a strong start in his 14th NFL season. The 37-year-old three-time Super Bowl champion is in search of his fourth title. It is unclear how many more seasons Kelce will play, and this year may represent his best chance at capturing another Super Bowl.
Individually, he is also looking to get back into 1,000-yard territory, something he has not done since 2022.
Through his first five games, Kelce has emerged as a reliable target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, hauling in 20 receptions on 27 targets for 299 yards and two touchdowns, helping Kansas City out to an undefeated 5-0 start.
Kelce hauled in four catches for 53 yards this past Sunday in a win against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, he was dealing with an ankle injury nearly the entire game.
In the first quarter, Kelce rolled his right ankle, which limited how many snaps he got during the game, especially once Kansas City extended their lead.
The Chiefs returned to practice on Wednesday and afterward announced an update on Kelce’s condition. Kelce was officially limited in practice, signaling the ankle issue is still a problem.

The Chiefs will play the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football in what should be a competitive game, so they will need all hands on deck, especially on offense where it appears Kansas City may also be without wide receiver Rashee Rice again.
Kelce’s practice limitation does not necessarily put his availability in doubt, but it is worth monitoring, especially if he does not progress or suffers a setback.
