Chiefs Announce Travis Kelce News During Colts Win

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs got the star power they expected from TE Travis Kelce on Sunday night, needing overtime to shake the Indianapolis Colts. Arrowhead Stadium watched the two sides trade blows all evening before Kansas City escaped with a 33-30 win.

Jonathan Taylor scored twice to keep Indianapolis in it, but the Chiefs always had an answer. Mahomes was steady throughout, completing 32 of 47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.

Xavier Worthy and Jalen Royals each caught one-yard touchdown passes, and Kenneth Walker III added 117 yards on the ground. Harrison Butker’s 40-yard field goal finally ended it, pushing Kansas City to 2-0.

Kelce set the tone early. The tight end hauled in a 13-yard touchdown for his first score of the season, part of a nine-catch, 101-yard night that averaged 11.2 yards per reception.

His biggest moment, though, didn’t show up on the scoreboard. During the game, the Chiefs announced that Kelce had set the NFL record for most yards after the catch, passing Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk for the top spot.

He got there in the first half, then added a touchdown. Larry Centers, Terrell Owens and Steve Smith round out the top five. It’s another notch on an already decorated resume for the 36-year-old, who racked up 443 yards after the catch in 2025.
