Chiefs' latest front office decision ensures continuity of key strategy that has kept the team on top

Following the departure of assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi , who was named the Tennessee Titans' general manager back in January, the Chiefs have made several shakeups to their front office, per NFL insider Albert Breer.

Taking Borgonzi's role of assistant GM will be both Mike Bradway and Chris Shea. Bradway was Kansas City's Senior Director of Player Personnel, and Shea served as senior Vice President of Football Operations and Strategy.

Bradway's role with the team has been mostly scouting oriented, whereas contract expertise has been Shea's wheelhouse. Shea played a key role in getting quarterback Patrick Mahomes' deal done, and Bradway has been a big part of the NFL draft process. Combined, Bradway and Shea should make a great duo as general manager Brett Veach's right hand men.

The Chiefs also promoted Ryne Nutt and Tim Terry to Vice President of Player Personnel positions. Nutt and Terry have already been in personnel roles with the team, with Nutt on the college side and Terry with the pros. In addition to those moves, K.C. promoted Marc Richards to Director of Football Research and Development, and Dru Grigson to Senior College and Pro Scouting Executive.

Richards has worked in metrics development for the Chiefs over the past three years, and Grigson was hired by the team back in January after working in the Arizona Cardinals' front office for the last 16 years. Just as the Chiefs often do within their coaching staff, keeping continuity by promoting from withing is a priority, and part of what keeps them as one of the most well ran organizations not just in the NFL, but all of sports.
