Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes joins Backstreet Boys at Sphere

The Backstreet Boys are in the midst of their first Sphere residency, Into the Millennium. The 53-date residency began on July 11, 2025, and has been extended to conclude on Jan. 2, 2027.

They are one of the top-playing artists at the venue. The Eagles are still the leader with 72 shows (their residency began on Sep. 20, 2024, and will conclude on Jan. 23, 2027). Dead & Company performed 48 shows at the venue, and coming up, Metallica will play 24 shows there from Oct. 1, 2026, to Mar. 13, 2027.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs start their season next week

On Monday, Sep. 14, 2026, the Chiefs open their season against the Denver Broncos. It’s still unknown if Mahomes will be able to play, as he is coming off a torn ACL suffered in December 2025.

Still, he has been a full participant throughout training camp. He looks ready to get back on the field. Expect a raucous crowd if he makes it on the field at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday Night Football.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are coming off the worst season of the quarterback’s career. The team went 6-11, missing the playoffs for the first time in the Mahomes era. This also came on the heels of their third-straight Super Bowl appearance. Before his injury, Mahomes passed for 3,587 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also rushed for 422 yards and five touchdowns.
