Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Texas Tech's WCWS Win Over UCLA

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had the same reaction as Texas Tech fans everywhere after the Red Raiders survived another dramatic Women's College World Series battle on Sunday.

Moments after Texas Tech's thrilling 8-7 victory over UCLA in nine innings, Mahomes posted on X: "Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!! LETS GO!!!!!!!!!@TexasTechSB".

The former Texas Tech star continues to be one of the program's most visible supporters, and the latest win kept the Red Raiders' national title hopes alive.

Texas Tech advanced to the WCWS semifinals for the second straight season after outlasting UCLA at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. The Red Raiders appeared to be in control with a 6-3 lead entering the bottom of the seventh inning before the Bruins mounted a late comeback.

UCLA's rally started with a solo homer from Ramsey Suarez. Moments later, Jordan Woolery crushed her second two-run home run of the game off ace pitcher NiJaree Canady, tying the score at 6-6 and forcing extra innings.

The contest even featured a bizarre sprinkler delay at the start of the eighth inning before the teams resumed play. Texas Tech finally broke through in the ninth when former UCLA pitcher Kaitlyn Terry delivered a go-ahead RBI double. The Red Raiders added an insurance run, which proved critical after Woolery answered with an RBI single in the bottom half.

Coach Gerry Glasco turned back to Canady for the final outs, and the star pitcher closed the door to secure the one-run victory.

The win improved Texas Tech to 59-9 while ending UCLA's season at 53-10. It also highlighted the Red Raiders' resilience after surrendering a late lead against one of the nation's top programs.

For Mahomes, the celebration came during his own comeback journey. The Chiefs quarterback is progressing from ACL and LCL injuries and remains on track for Week 1.

The Chiefs are looking to bounce back after their 6–11 finish last NFL season, especially with Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker also part of the team.

Meanwhile, his alma mater is two wins away from reaching the WCWS championship series, though it must beat top-seeded Alabama twice to get there.
