Retirement rumors have been swirling around Travis Kelce throughout the month of February, but the Kansas City Chiefs are expecting him to return for the 2025 campaign. And if he does end up doing so, fans were quick to point out a unique Taylor Swift twist on social media.
In the wake of losing Super Bowl LIX, Kelce himself has refused to offer any sort of indication as to whether or not he will retire. However, when speaking with reporters at the 2025 NFL draft combine on Tuesday, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach made it clear that the team is expecting Kelce to return for the upcoming season.
"How we left at the end of the season is that he was fired up,'' Veach said. "I think we left it as he'd be back and were excited to get him back and get him going.''
While nothing is official yet, it looks more likely than not that Kelce will be returning for his 13th season in the NFL. With this news coming to light, fans were quick to point out a twist involving Swift, as the number 13 is Swift's favorite number, leading folks to speculate that the 2025 season could actually be Kelce's final year in the NFL.
I just realized that Travis Kelce, if he does come back, he is expected to. It would be his 13th season. Playing his final year of his career on Taylor's favorite number. You can't make this stuff up," Brad Henson Productions said in a post on X.

Kelce earned his 10th straight Pro Bowl selection in 2024, racking up 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns. His numbers have begun to decrease in recent seasons, but he's still one of the best tight ends in the NFL.
Kansas City is confident he will be back, but until the man himself announces his plans, it's best to keep tabs on Kelce ahead of the team's rumored deadline for a decision of March 14.
